It's time to build your first prototype! The prototype should be what designers call a ‘looks-like’ prototype as opposed to a ‘works-like’ prototype. That is, it should show us what your design would look like but it does not have to actually be tested experimentally for its functionality.

First, consider whether your prototype will be identical to your initial brainstormed sketch, or whether you will make modifications to your design based on the knowledge you have gained in the design review process. Again, you can build your prototype using basic materials at your house (get creative!)

You may use any materials that you like, but remember that your design must meet the specified design criteria and constraints. We suggest that you get creative with your use of materials - consider using simple and/or recycled materials that you find around your home like cardboard, toothpicks, buttons, etc.

Instructions (at this point steps 1 and 2 should be finished and you can focus on step 3):

If you have made any modifications to your original sketch, please create a new sketch of your improved design, along with a description of its unique features. Include comments related to your design's ability to meet the prescribed design criteria.
Make 3D CAD drawing of your design using TinkerCad.
Once completely finished with your Tinkercad drawing, please go ahead and build a physical prototype of your design. (You may use any parts that you already have at home, but remember that your design must meet the existing criteria and constraints.)
